COVENANT

New sermon series from August 7-September 4, 2022.

On the kickoff Sunday of our new sermon series, Covenant, people from both churches in our cooperative parish walked in prayer from Idlewylde United Methodist Church to the 6300 block of Sherwood Rd. In a neighborhood that is not accustomed to violence, members of the congregations were moved to show that all are children of God. Regardless of circumstances that occurred in this loss of life, the Lord laments with us. Jesus blessed children and prayed for them. He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” We know that a young woman, gone too soon, is with the Savior now, and has seen the Lord face to face. A brief memorial was spoken and a token of our affection as a church was laid at the corner of Sherwood Rd. and Limit Ave.

In additional efforts, we are collecting donations for disaster recovery in Eastern Kentucky post flood. We are encouraging everyone to donate to the Kentucky Annual Conference and the Central Appalachian Missionary Conference of the United Methodist Church by writing a check to St. Johns, including in the memo line “Advance #200902” or “Advance #773978” for Kentucky or Central Appalachian Conferences, respectively. Thank you for your consideration.
